If he tries to use Target mode, he will have the same problem. The drive is still Mac formatted and the PC won’t be able to mount it. If the G4 is still available, put the drive back into it and network the 2 computers or burn the Marx Bros. to a DVD. That might not be a bad idea actually, as you will have a backup.
why not just take the hard drive out and slave it?
Try installing new copy of windows from cd………….
If you can’t boot or even get to CMOS, then your hard drive is definitely blown out.You will need a new one, but as long as you’ve got the XP install CDs and the activation key (usually on the computer as a sticker or if you bought XP it will be in the box)No you cannot switch from IDE to SATA, because that would require a 64bit motherboard which you do not have. (Or just use an IDE/SATA adaptor)I reccomend buying a 80 Gig IDE Hard Drive from a local used-computer parts store if you have one. That way you can get it cheap for about $5-15.Or go here for some pretty great deals on computer parts, I’ll link you directly to the HD section: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=522You could get an external USB drive, but they’re a bit pricey. Good luck
It should be priced as a budget computer – one of the cheapest models in the shop – and would have enough power for browsing net, doing office work and stuff – but with no graphics power to run modern desktop compositing – so no compiz in Linux, no Aero in Windows. It will run basic desktops and do most jobs quite well though.I think IBM 60GB hard drive is very tiny – the cheapest MB per dollar rating now is between 500GB and 1000GB – this is a very very low budget machine for sure. No monitor? no DVD?Very basic.
On the rear of the hard drive(s), the is a small piece of plastic in a recessed slot, this is a jumper. Etched in the metal above the slot are letters; MS,SL, and CS. MS=master jumper setting, move the piece of plastic to this position for the “master” setting. SL=slave jumper setting, move the piece of plastic to this position for the “slave” setting. CS=cable select jumper setting. Turn the power off, unplug it and remove the cover. Examine the first drive , insure that the jumper is set to the master position. With that out of the way, set your second drive to the “slave” position. Mount the drive in the case below the first hard drive. Leave a space between the two, if possible, to cut down on heat related problems. Plug the second (middle) IDE ribbon wire plug into the drive. Then plug the “molex” power plug into the drive. Leave the cover off for now. Plug the computer in, attach the monitor, mouse, and keyboard. Turn the computer on, right click on “My Computer” and select “Manage”, in the left pane select “Disk Management” and see if the new “slave” drive appears in the right pane with a new assigned drive letter. Right click on the new drive in the right pane and select “Format” after the drive is formatted it will be ready to use. I would select the largest capacity (most GBs) hard drive out of the bunch to install into your computer.
bad hdd, or you don’t have the proper drivers, or it’s not comnpatible with those systems
try to check on with parttion magic 8.0 it should help with any parttion problems
